- There are no membership requirements other than an interest in the tenants at 221B Baker Street.
- There are no membership dues.
Meetings are held quarterly. Meeting dates and information can always be found on this website and in e-mails sent to members. To join the e-mail list send a note to Peter Blau.
Drinks and meals at our meetings are Dutch treat.
There are no business meetings, no board of directors, no treasury. There were four founding officers, but three of them have died and one has vanished. No replacements have been named.
There are numerous committees, such as the Committee on Quizzes, the Committee on Victuals and the Committee on Commercials. However, these committees never meet and their membership is unknown.
Members are often found at other Sherlockian goings-on, such as plays, films, talks, and gatherings of mystery lovers. The Committee on Things Like That keeps members up-to-date on these opportunities via this website and announcements at meetings. Many members participate in a number of Sherlockian groups.

Noon -- 4:00
As the world takes its first tentative steps back to normal, The Red Circle will celebrate with an enjoyable transitional event: a picnic at the renowned Glen Echo Park. No papers, no lectures, just catching up with Sherlockian friends without a computer monitor in sight! But, since Peter can't resist a quiz, there probably will be one.
Here's what you need to know:
- Glen Echo Park is located off MacArthur Boulevard about three miles north of the District line, near the Clara Barton House. Use the address above to find it with your GPS. Click here for a map of the park.
- Convenient parking and admission to the park are free. We will ask each person to chip in $3.00 to help with the rental of the Putt Putt Picnic Tent (no need to pay in advance). This large tent has open sides and picnic tables for our exclusive use. You're also welcome to bring folding chairs and blankets. There's more shelter nearby in case it rains. The tent isn't shown on the Glen Echo map, but it's near the Hall of Mirrors (#16).
- The Praline Cafe is expected to be open with tuna salad, chicken salad, turkey & brie, and ham & swiss sandwiches, along with a variety of cookies, chips and drinks. "Imported" alcohol is prohibited, but the cafe offers wine and beer for consumption at the cafe.
- The legendary Dentzel Carousel at the park is open and celebrating its 100th anniversary. A day pass for unlimited rides can be had at the bargain price of $5.00.
- The Aquarium may or may not be open. If it is, tickets are $8.00. At least some of the craft shops will be open.
- Modern restrooms are available.
- Currently, there are no vaccination requirements, but masks are required at all indoor locations at the park. We know that our members and guests will take due precautions, and since we have our own open air tent with additional space around it, everyone should be able to find their personal "comfort zone."
